President Yoon Suk-yeol had a luncheon with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on July 13 and discussed the expansion of substantial cooperation between South Korea and Poland in the areas of trade, investment, nuclear power, defense, infrastructure, as well as cultural and personnel exchanges.

President Yoon expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Morawiecki, an economic expert, for his contribution to the expansion of economic cooperation between South Korea and Poland, and requested cooperation in resolving the difficulties faced by Korean companies venturing into Poland.

In addition, he proposed nuclear power, energy, infrastructure, and reconstruction projects in Ukraine as promising areas for expanded cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to enhance cooperation in these fields.

Prime Minister Morawiecki responded positively, expressing a strong willingness to cooperate with South Korea, especially in the reconstruction project in Ukraine.

Both sides acknowledged the steady increase in mutual visitors since the opening of a direct flight route between South Korea and Poland in 2016 and agreed to continue efforts to expand air routes between the two countries.

President Yoon welcomed the participation of the Polish delegation in the World Scout Jamboree to be held in Saemangeum, South Korea in August this year, expressing expectations that it would be a good opportunity for young people from both countries to become more familiar with each other.

Prime Minister Morawiecki agreed with the importance of interpersonal exchanges, especially among the younger generation, and pledged support for future exchanges between the two countries' future generations.

Regarding the 2030 Busan World Expo, President Yoon explained the results of the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) held in Paris in June to Prime Minister Morawiecki and requested Poland's active support and interest.

Prime Minister Morawiecki acknowledged Korea's passion and capabilities in attracting the 2030 Busan World Expo and stated that Poland would actively consider its position on the candidacy for hosting the event in Busan.
