Seek ways to cooperate in the field of public digital transformation between Korea and India.

Koh Jin, chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Digital Platform Government, met with Indian Ambassador to Korea Amit Kumar on July 24 to discuss ways to cooperate in the field of public digital transformation between Korea and India.

The meeting was held as the Indian Embassy requested to share information on South Korea's digital platform government policy and discuss cooperation between the two countries ahead of the G20 summit (Sept. 9-10), when India took over as chairman this year.

Koh and Kumar shared the current status of policies and cooperation agendas of the two countries on digital public infrastructure, digital government services, information protection and security.

Chairman Koh said, "In terms of digital transformation policies, both countries have a common interest in their strengths. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and India this year, I hope it will be an opportunity to share more active policy information and strengthen cooperative relations," he said.

2023 is a special year for South Korea and India, celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties. After first establishing relations in 1973, the two countries raised their relationship to that of a ‘Strategic Partnership’ in 2010 which developed into a ‘Special Strategic Partnership,’ in 2015.

During that time, bilateral ties have grown in fields of economy and security, but also in socio-cultural exchanges. However, more opportunities lie ahead.
