President Yoon Suk-yeol holds informal talks with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas

To promote bilateral relations, practical cooperation

held informal talks with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas on July 12, on the occasion of his attendance at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit. They exchanged views on bilateral relations, enhancing practical cooperation, international affairs, and other topics.

 

 

Both leaders highly appreciated the close collaboration between Korea and Estonia in the fields of digital and cyber security, including joint participation in digital nations and the NATO Cyber Defense Center. They also noted the recent expansion of cooperation in the defense industry and expressed their efforts to further expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.

 

Regarding the opening of the "Estonian Business Hub" in Seoul in January of this year, President Yoon expressed his hope that it would serve as a catalyst for enhancing business activities between the two countries. 


Prime Minister Kallas, in response, expressed her expectation that the positive perception of Estonia within Korea would continue to spread, leading to increased people-to-people exchanges and economic cooperation between the two countries.

 

Furthermore, both leaders exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and Ukraine. They reaffirmed their solidarity with the international community in addressing the Ukrainian conflict and agreed to closely cooperate for the prompt restoration of peace and normalcy in Ukraine.

 

President Yoon also requested the support of the Estonian government for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo, which he believes will serve as a solution platform for global challenges.
